I’m sitting here on the little futon sofa and it’s 10 pm on a Monday night. I’ve been reminding myself for the last couple of hours that I should go to bed and get a good night sleep. But one thing I’ve learned on my journey is that when an inspiration strikes I must act fast to either do it at the moment or at least make note of it somewhere, whether in my phone or in my notebook.
I just finished writing a blog on the top 7 books that had a big influence on my life. You can read it here.
As I was finishing writing it I had a new inspiration come up.
The inspiration was…
FEAR IS A SIGNPOST TO WHERE YOU SHOULD GO NEXT!
This has been a painful, dreadful and yes in fact fearful lesson for me to learn on my journey. Over the past couple of years, I’ve accelerated my growth and inner discovery process. So quickly that it went from having, I guess we can call them epiphanies? or ah-ha? moments, once every couple of months to having them monthly, then weekly, and then daily.
These days it’s almost blissful in multiple moments in the day. But I realize that it takes time and process to get here. One does not just jump right into it. In fact, it would be too much to experience at once that the very experience may, in fact, scare you. lol
But on this journey, I started to be more aware of when fear was creeping up.
In the past when fear would come up, I’d flea away from it. Find ways to divert it. Ignore it. Or simply deny it was there.
When you go down the unknown path of becoming a digital entrepreneur or down the path of personal growth and self discovery your life and perception are tested in multiple ways including your fears.
One thing I learned is to perceive fear as a signpost to where you need to go next in your personal growth journey.
I know it sounds scary but on the other side of fear is freedom, peace, healing and liberation.
Over the years living in fearful ways, I was chasing comfort as my way of living. I thought that staying in my comfort zone as much as possible was the path to peace, freedom, and liberation (even though I had no clue what those words were back then).
I did everything I can to get back to comfort. I rushed through errands just so I can get back to my car so I can feel a sense of comfort. I did everything in a hurry, running to go home so I can feel safe and secure in my comfort bubble of certainty.
You may have learned that I was an insecure wreck based on some of my videos or other blogs. But it’s hard to express that because we don’t want to sound week or inferior so we put on a mask of confidence thinking no one will detect it. We feel as though we have to hide our emotions just so that we’re not judged or laughed at. And I know that a lot of people deal with the same thing but in the moment I thought I was the only one.
Unfortunately, in many cases, the collective mindset is still encouraging that type of behavior, which makes it hard for us vulnerable creatures to be ourselves. More on that in another blog.
But to go back to fear being a signpost… for me over time it came clear that fear was my sign to move towards to when it came to my own personal growth journey.
It was my compass to lean towards to. There were times where I moved towards the other way and avoided it.
My own ego would also jump in and say “no we’re good, we’ve already dealt with that, we are much more confident now”. Noticed it was like there were two of us… Maybe another subject for another blog.
The thing is what we fear the most at the present time is exactly what we need to move through in order for us to discover true inner freedom.
Moving through the fear takes courage. Sometimes it takes a boatload of courage. And yes sometimes a boatload is not enough. Maybe in that case it takes a starship load? Lol
It can be painful even thinking about leaning into the fear. But I would suggest that you learn to trust it.
And if you’re not sure how to move through it, because sometimes it may require that you make difficult decisions, spend some time meditating. Find a quiet space where you can sit down and just be there with your thoughts. Don’t judge them, don’t cling on to them, let them pass by. Accept them as simply thoughts, because thoughts aren’t you, they are an object of the mind. You are the one experiencing them as they pass by, just like a tree or a building on the side of the road while driving.
At this time while you’re meditating, it’s a good time to feel the fear. Feel it. Feel what it feels like. Be aware of it but try not to let it take over. Be gentle with it. Observe it like it would be a physical object in front of you.
Then try to understand why you feel the fear in the first place. Why is it there? What’s causing it?
Once you start to feel it and have a better idea of why you feel it then try to move towards the fear. Sometimes it could only by in our minds. But sometimes it’s something we have to physically do.
If it’s something that we have to physically do, then lean towards doing it. Feel the fear coming up.
Keep a balance with one foot in the known and one foot in the unknown.
Maybe you have to take smaller steps to get past the fear. If that’s what it feels like, then take one step forward towards the unknown while still keeping a foot in the known.
This is a fun journey if you choose to see it that way. You get to learn where you’re limits are. And the more you learn where you’re limits are the more you start to discover that that are no limits and that you have an unlimited amount of potential.
Stepping outside your comfort zone and confronting fear is the best self discovery process. You learn so much about yourself, you might even find talents you didn’t even know you had.
The comfort bubble we create around ourselves can be layered in multiple different ways and with much dept. Sometimes you’ll think you’ve gone past a fear and broken the barrier of the unknown and then the very same fear will pop up again. It may be at a different level now that you’ve gone through the pain of going through it once. But your increased awareness of it will help you not get taken over by it again.
Alright so I know I’ve gone deep into the subject, but I also have discussed this around fear in general.

I’d be happy to share perspective on some of the fears that come up for you. I don’t have all the answers and I can only share from my own experience, but maybe what I can share is just what you need in the present time to take you one step closer to where you want to be.

I fear failure and success. But without failure, I won’t be successful, and that scares me. I’ve only admitted that one other time in my life.
The fear of prosperity is greater than the fear of failure. Most people including myself have fears of success. We fear of how we will be perceived, fear of the responsibilities, fear of actually knowing if we are worthy of it. But fear is an object of the ego mind. It’s creating the fear because it wants you to stay in the comfort zone. Ego is the entity of our defence mechanism, since we no longer need it for physical survival it feeds off of psychological survival.
When the thought comes see it as simply a thought and let it go. Do this every time it comes up.
See that as your next signpost to overcome. Look for videos that can help you overcome that. Or maybe a guided meditation. Or books too like The Untethered Soul by Miachael Singer.
Fear is something that creeps up. I am learning myself on how to stay center and keep pressing. I have daily affirmations to keep me grounded.
Good for you for doing the work and implementing self powerering tools. It’s all part of the process. A journey on its own.
