The fact that we live in the 21st century is that we have an unlimited amount of opportunities and choices.
We have the chance to create for ourselves the life we truly desire to live and experience.
We get to create our reality and aligning it with fulfilling work and growth.
BUT here’s we most people fall off…
They stay stuck in their life path and in a career that is unfulfilling and unexciting.
For me, that’s exactly what happened.
When I finished college I started my corporate career and I was loving it but that lasted for only for a brief period.
I was excited about my new job and the fact that I was working for an automotive company, but the initial euphoria died pretty quickly. Now it was a customer service job and I dealt with complaining customers all day long, so that didn’t help it either.
Then I made a shift and found a job that I really enjoyed. It was as a field manufacturer sales representative and I had a company car and a lot more flexibility.
I was so happy about that job and I excelled at it quickly. So quickly that I got promoted within a year and a half from being in that role.
So I was over the moon and was excited about my career advancement. I was seeing so much potential in my career.
I was excited about the life ahead and thought that that was it.
Until one day I woke up and realized I was feeling a bit miserable…
I felt lost. I felt unhappy with my career.
I had lost the drive to continue on.
But looking around me and at people ahead of me in the supply chain, I thought maybe it was normal to feel this way.
Maybe a bit of anxiety and inner resistance is part of life and everyone has a little sense of resentment about their careers except for the very few who are passionate about it.
So I kept going. Struggling through and dreading the days or work in the office and the never-ending cycle of the daily routines.
This made me realize how much I hate living in a routine and predictable environment.
I continued down the path, thinking it would get better. Getting promoted once more with a new role out in the field. The office work was chocking me and the opportunity to be back in the field gave me a breath of fresh air.
But I still felt like something was missing. I wasn’t excited about my work anymore.
I felt like I was forcing myself to do the things I was asked to do. Do you ever feel like that with your work?
It was though to deal with and the more I ignored it, the more anxiety and unease I felt.
Then it started to click and I found myself in a space of reflection and asked myself, why am I feeling this way? What is it that I can do?
Now, of course, all my thoughts started to race through and although I was being aware of how I was feeling, my mind started to justify my life situation. Bringing me right back to the same feeling.
It was a vicious cycle of thinking of how to find joyful work, to the feeling of lack of self-belief that I can find work that I’m passionate about. So it kept me paralyzed.
But I didn’t want to stop and go without a fight…
I know a lot of people struggle with this, but they turn right back into their habitual thinking patterns and don’t do anything about it until they go deeper into their careers where the changes feel too drastic.
So at this point, this is when I found myself really searching for answers.
The thing is the answers are all within us, we just need to look at the right place.
And that place for me wasn’t easy to find for me…
If you’re looking for joy in your work here’s what I suggest… start asking yourself;
- “What am I passionate about?”
- “What would I love to do all the time and not get bored of it?”
- “How can I serve others?”
- “What’s important for me in my life?”
- “What do I want to accomplish?”
- “What kind of experience do I want to have in my life?”
- “What can I do to achieve my goals?”
The answers may not come right away so be patient with yourself. Usually, the first answers that come to mind are the best ones. And when an answer comes, start there. Doesn’t mean its final but a good start… and then check in again to see if it fits with you.
When I asked myself what am I passionate about, what came up for me is cars! I love cars and always been a fan of cars. Playing with hot wheels when I was a kid to playing nothing but racing video games as I got older.
So I looked at other careers around cars and potentially involve marketing.
But here’s the difference for me, although I love cars and I could have changed career paths to be more surrounded by sporty or luxurious cars, what came up was the fact that I would still have ended up unfulfilled and trading time for money for a different company.
So I realized I didn’t just want to do something I was passionate about, I wanted to be fulfilled by the work I do.
And fulfillment is what brings true joy in your work.
When you find yourself in a space of loving what you do and feeling fulfilled by the fact that what you do matters then you have a winning formula.
Now what I’m focused on isn’t even around cars because down this path of self-discovery I found that I was truly passionate about personal and spiritual growth. I found myself craving for more and more teachings and practices to incorporate in my life to improve it in all the ways possible. And I still do today, there is no end to it.
And how I found that was by embracing a new life, embracing the life of digital entrepreneurship and surrounding myself with like-minded people who are all on the same path of finding true happiness and fulfillment in their lives and in what they do to generate an income.
Every step of the way has been enlightening as I discovered more and more ways to improve myself on a daily basis and now I find it so joyful and fulfilling to be able to have the open space to share my experiences so that I can help influence other people so they too can have fulfilling life experiences.
If you want true happiness and joy in what you do, I feel that building a digital business that is true to who you authentically are is the best way to go.
Entrepreneurship pushes you to reach your potential. And there is help available on how to get started.
Another career path will likely put you down the same road of unfulfillment and if you’re anything like me you’ll get bored and want to change it anyway.
The world of entrepreneurship keeps evolving, keeps growing and stays aligned with who you really are and what you’re truly passionate about.
I’m learning to do all of this with the help of this education company. I’m a big believer in what they teach because I’m a product of the system. They helped me grow so much and get so clear on the business and life I want to create and always dreamed of.
